Packaging choices in international trade

Packaging is part of a product’s cost, protection, handling and customer experience. In international trade, the right choice depends on the product, transport route, destination rules and how packaging is managed after use.

Assess the full journey

Consider product protection, material use, weight, storage, shipping efficiency and the facilities available to reuse or recycle packaging in the destination market. A change that works for one route or product may not suit another.

Check requirements before shipping

Confirm packaging specifications, food-contact suitability where relevant, labelling, documentation and any producer or importer obligations with qualified suppliers and local advisers. Keep claims specific and supported by evidence.

Plan with your partners

Discuss packaging options with suppliers, logistics providers and buyers early. Agree responsibilities, handling instructions and end-of-life information before finalising a product or shipment.

Green Nordic can discuss packaging requirements as part of a product or sourcing enquiry. Options and documentation are confirmed case by case.
